If someone calls you a shrew, it’s an insult. The common shrew is another small but terrible meanie in the animal kingdom. Why are they mean, you ask? Well, it’s because they have a very high metabolism and therefore are always hungry, are always hunting. They can even produce venom with one bite into their prey, despite normally just crushing the base of their prey’s skull.
