*** Please Note that the Latest Wild Fact is Below this Post ***

Okay folks, it is time for another edition of Wild Websites where I pass on only the best nature related websites to you.  The great thing about today’s website is they collect the best of the best nature sites for you… all in one place.  That’s right, Nature Center Magazine is your one stop shopping center for everything nature related.

In the words of the wonderful creators themselves:

Nature Center Magazine was created to introduce the rest of the internet to the world of nature. It is a main hub for all nature websites. We will help you find the best of the nature sites that the internet has to offer”

They definitely stay true to their word as this incredible website is definitely the hub for everything related to nature.  Not only can you find amazing nature websites but they also have a section dedicated to Cool Nature Videos. I personally enjoyed the video on the Komodo Dragon but the Seahorse giving birth was rather interesting as well.

If cool nature videos and amazing nature information isn’t enough to encourage you to go and check out the site then perhaps you would be interested in some absolutely stunning and FREE Nature Wallpapers. That’s right, Nature Center Magazine has an amazing collection of beautiful wallpapers that will help spruce up your computer.  Again, I personally like the tree frog, bald eagle, the Ghostly Hiker….. you know what, they are all incredible.

So by now, I am sure you have figured out that Nature Center Magazine is truly the best place to go to find anything and everything related to nature.  Before you go and check out the site, I want to share one more neat feature they offer.  They actually have a section which highlights Online Field Guides.  Are you curious about the weird looking bug you found? How about that little bird chirping in your backyard?  Well, they have Online Field Guides that will help you figure all of this out.

So what are you waiting for?  Head over to Nature Center Magazine and check out this incredible website. In fact, I highly recommend bookmarking it so you can visit them every day.

Here is the link again…..www.nc-mag.com .  Have fun browsing through all of the nature information.

Wild Websites – Real Monstrosities

September 5, 2010 - 3:31 pm No Comments

I mentioned this incredible website in the comment section the other day but I wanted to bring a bit more focus to such an interesting idea so Real Monstrosities gets it very own Wild Website Post.  Real Monstrosities is truly a “Journey amongst the weird, the wonderful and the downright ugly”.  The author of the website is known as Comment1 and has had a passion for the “creepy-crawlies” of the world for as long as he can remember.  He spent a lot of time on the Caribbean Island of Trinidad where he was exposed to numerous bizarre animals.  As Comment1 has matured he is attempting to relive those passionate times observing weird animals doing truly amazing things.  This is great news for all of us since we have an opportunity to learn about some of earth’s most interesting animals in a fun and “safe” way.

Real Monstrosities provides an in-depth look at some of the worlds most unique animals such as Giant Salamanders, Frilled Sharks, and one of my favourite posts “Squirters of the Animal Kingdom”. Not only do you get a wealth of information but it is written in such way that is entertaining so you will want to keep reading.  Honestly, it is like that amazing novel that you just can’t put down. The only downside of this website is you have to wait until Sunday to get a new animal.  I don’t think I was able to get anything done this week since I was waiting in anticipation of today’s animal.  For the record, it was worth the wait.

As usual, I love to provide my readers with websites that will further educate them on the animals and behaviours of nature.  You know that I don’t do paid advertisements and I only pass on the best websites which I have reviewed for you.  So what are you waiting for? Go and check out today’s animal on Real Monstrosities. I promise that you will be checking this blog every Sunday to get your fix on the strangest animals our planet has to offer.

Wild Websites – Animal A Day!

May 29, 2010 - 5:28 pm No Comments

If you love getting your daily animal fix at Wild Facts then you will want to check out a relatively new blog called Animal A Day! You may be able to tell by the title that it is a very similar concept to Wild Facts.  Lauren takes the time to provide information about a new animal every day.  She even works on weekends which makes me feel like a little bit of a slacker :)

I know what some of you are thinking.  Why in the world are you promoting a competitive website.  Basically, my goal is to educate people about the interesting qualities of wildlife throughout the world which will hopefully make people aware of the importance of natural ecosystems. What Lauren is doing over at Animal A Day is a great source of information and will help create awareness of the animals we share this planet with.

Animal A Day is a little different than Wild Facts since Lauren discuss animals of all shapes and sizes from anywhere in the world.  I know that doesn’t sound different but she even highlights animals that once roamed the earth millions of years ago.  You won’t get too many facts on extinct animals here at Wild Facts.

Trust me when I tell you that you will not be disappointed if you start following Animal A Day! Lauren has an educational background in Library and Information Science so you know the posts are very well written.  Her love and passion for wildlife shows through in her writing and makes every post an entertaining read.  I encourage you to head over there now and support another Wildlife Blogger.  I have added a link on the sidebar and I will be promoting Animal A Day in my Featured Site Section so you will always be able to find your way there.

What are you still doing here??  Go and check out Animal A Day!

Wild Websites – A-Z Animals

February 5, 2010 - 1:25 pm No Comments

While researching for Wild Facts, I tend to come across some incredibly interesting animal websites. Today, I am going to tell you about the best resource for animal information on the net.  I am not kidding! I absolutely love A-Z Animals and I know you will too.

Not only does A-Z Animals have an incredible amount of information relating to various animal species but you can also take a minute to play some of Gary the Goat’s Games or test your knowledge with Colin Cow’s Quizzes. As well, you can follow Bernie the Bear’s Animal of the Day, or look around Sammy Sheep’s Shop. Whatever you do though make sure you check out Betty the Butterfly’s Blog since she has some great posts that I know you will enjoy. So if your child is looking for information for a school project then I recommend A-Z Animals.  Not only do they have a ton of animal information but their blog is inspiring and the writing is captivating.

In all honesty, when I first started Wild Facts, I had the idea of making it a great resource for students.  After stumbling onto A-Z Animals, I realized that their website was exactly the dream I had for Wild Facts. This is why I am urging you go there and check it out and bookmark it.  I promise you will not be disappointed.

I am so impressed with A-Z Animals that I have invited them to be a guest writer on Wild Facts. As well, I will be contributing articles to help build up their amazing database.  My first article on the Pink Fairy Armadillo (you remember that Wild Fact, right?) will be uploaded in the next week or so.

Go now and check out A-Z Animals at http://a-z-animals.com/.  As well, there will be a link to A-Z Animals on the sidebar of Wild Facts.  That way you can get there anytime you want.

Well, I am off to go and read some more interesting animal articles on my favourite website for animal information.
