This article is not for the faint of heart as we are about to explore some of the creepiest animals on the planet. Keep in mind that these are real animals and not what you see in the sci-fi movies.. or are they? Well, they could be. Be ready to avert your eyes anytime.<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Shoebill<\/span><\/h2>\n

<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

The Shoebill stork gets its name from the shape of its beak, or bill. The Shoebill can be found in East Africa, in the swamps from Sudan to Zambia. This tall bird reaches up to about 60 inches or 152 centimeters. But that isn\u2019t what makes it creepy. It\u2019s the stare. That stare that probably reminds you of Hannibal Lecter. Try looking at its face up front and you\u2019ll see what we mean by it.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Poodle Moth<\/span><\/h2>\n

<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

The Venezuelan Poodle Moth, a possible new species founded by a Kyrgyzstan doctor named Arthur Anker back in 2009. This is a combination we\u2019d never thought we\u2019d see. It\u2019s very large, and very creepy when you look at it up close. It probably makes you wonder what nature has been doing while we weren\u2019t looking. This isn\u2019t something we\u2019d want to keep looking at on a regular basis.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Naked Mole Rat<\/span><\/h2>\n

<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Well, some find them cute, but they mostly look creepy, with its bucktoothed and furless form. The naked mole rat can be found burrowing in parts of East Africa. Despite its physical appearance, they can actually survive in harsh environments.<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Tube Nosed Fruit Bat<\/span><\/h2>\n

<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

This creepy yet endangered animal can be found in the subtropical parts of the Philippines. It resembles a few familiar fantasy characters, but those characters seem more friendly looking than this one. It\u2019s a good thing it likes fruits, right?<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Frilled Shark<\/span><\/h2>\n

Oh dear, another one and this one comes with its own theme song; <\/span>dun dun, dun dun. You\u2019d think that the name alone would suggest that this animal would have looked pretty. But boy we were wrong. This, unfortunately, near threatened species that stretches from as long as 2 meters or 6 feet and 6 inches can be found in parts of the Atlantic and the Pacific oceans.<\/span><\/p>\n

6. Wolf Fish<\/span><\/h2>\n

<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

The deep blue sea certainly has a lot of creatures down below, and it\u2019s safe to say we\u2019d be better off not knowing what other creatures are there. This wolf fish can be found in the northern parts of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, feeding on hardshell creatures and is the sea urchin\u2019s primary predator. You could get your hand bitten off if you tried catching one.<\/span><\/p>\n

7. Star Nosed Mole<\/span><\/h2>\n

<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

This creature resembles those animal experiments gone wrong in movies. The star-nosed mole gets its name from well, it\u2019s nose. Found in the wet parts of Eastern Canada and the northeastern part of the US. You\u2019re better off looking at this creature from the top, so as not to look so disturbing if you look at it face to face.<\/span><\/p>\n

8. Aye Aye<\/span><\/h2>\n

<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

If <\/span>Aye Aye meant if we agree that this animal looks creepy, aye aye indeed. This creature can be found in Madagascar, and is known to be the largest nocturnal primate. The long fingers and it\u2019s stare add up to its fearsome appearance. A lot of superstitions surround this one, and it\u2019s also been said, that if an <\/span>Aye Aye points its skinniest finger at a person, they are going to die. Thus, this is the primary reason why it\u2019s a near threatened species.<\/span><\/p>\n

9. <\/span>Trogloraptor<\/h2>\n

<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Another creepy crawly in the list, and definitely not something we\u2019d want to see, regardless if we\u2019re arachnophobic or not. These large, yellow-brown spiders were first discovered in 2010 and can be found caves in southwestern Oregon. Does its size remind you of those horror movies? Or maybe in Jurassic Park?<\/span><\/p>\n

10. Anglerfish<\/span><\/h2>\n

<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Ah yes, one of the most famous species down below in the sea that give us nightmares, with the luminous organ on the top of its head that lures unsuspecting prey into it\u2019s mouth, filled with long fang-like teeth. Anglerfish can grow as long as 3 feet long and as small as 8 to 9 inches. We’re just relieved we don\u2019t see any of these up on the surface, right?<\/span><\/p>\n

11. Black Dragon Fish<\/span><\/h2>\n

<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Another example of what we don\u2019t know won\u2019t hurt us. If you\u2019ve seen the movie \u201cAlien\u201d then you\u2019d probably think that this was the fish, that served as inspiration for the chest burster as the two look alike. The dragon fish can be found about 1,000 meters down, and like its fellow deep sea creatures, the dragon fish has its own luminous organ that it\u2019s prey can\u2019t see in order for them to hunt.<\/span><\/p>\n

Knowing that it\u2019s located at the deep, dark, depths of the ocean would be enough for us to be relieved that we don\u2019t see these often. And it\u2019s a good thing we don\u2019t.<\/span><\/p>\n

12. Amazonian Giant Centipede<\/span><\/h2>\n

<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s another one that will make you cringe. The Amazonian Giant Centipede. Need we say more? It can grow up to a foot long, and sometimes even longer than that. Just thinking about it crawling around makes us shudder. Didn\u2019t we say this was not for the faint of heart? Our fears of long insects with a hundred legs just came to life. Its venomous too. Cringe.<\/span><\/p>\n

13. Sarcastic Fringehead<\/span><\/h2>\n

Yep, there\u2019s nothing sarcastic about this one at all. This creepy fish can be found in the depths of the Pacific ocean, specifically in North America, from San Francisco to Baja. You wouldn\u2019t want to be stepping on its territory, however, as these are highly territorial creatures. And when they open their big mouths, you\u2019d wish you hadn\u2019t seen it.
