1. Kitti’s Hog-Nosed Bat<\/span><\/h2>\n

This teeny-tiny bat is also known as a bumblebee bat, and is commonly found in the western parts of Thailand and in the southeastern parts of Burma, and inhabits limestone caves along the rivers. It is deemed as the world\u2019s smallest mammal, measuring at a tiny 29 to 33 mm. However, due to habitat degradation as well as a disturbance in roosting sites in Thailand, this tiny bat is facing a risk of extinction. <\/span><\/p>\n

2. Pygmy Marmoset<\/span><\/h2>\n

This cute little monkey is commonly found in the rainforests of the western Amazon basin in South America. The Pygmy Marmoset is deemed as the smallest primate and the smallest monkey, weighing just over 100 grams, and measuring 117 – 152 mm from its head to its body and 172-229 mm on its tail. They usually inhabit the evergreen as well as forests by the river and is known for being a gumivore.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bees are already generally very small, and hummingbirds are also very small birds, but a bee hummingbird? They are tiny! The bird is more commonly found in the mogote area of Cuba, and measures just 5-6 cm, and weighing 1.6-2 g.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the smallest primates in the world as well as the smallest lemur would be Madame Berthe\u2019s mouse lemur. In average, it measures 9.2 cm, and is commonly found in the western part of Madagascar, in the Kirindy forest. It was named after the Madagascar native, conservationist and primatologist Professor Dr. Madame Berthe Rakotosamimanana, the Secretary General of the Groupe d\u2019Etudes et de Recherche des Primates, or GERP.<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Paedocypris Fish<\/span><\/h2>\n

Also known as the smallest fish there is. It\u2019s commonly found in Southeast Asia, particularly in the waters of the Philippines, Malaysia, and in Indonesia. The smallest adult female paedocypris measures 7.9 mm, and the largest measures up to 10.3 mm. They\u2019re known to be able to live in water with a high level of acidity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rabbits are already very cute and fluffy, but what about a small and cute and fluffy rabbit? The pygmy rabbit is commonly found in North America, and is actually only one of two species of rabbits with an ability to dig its own burrow. This cute rabbit measures from 23.5 to 29.5 cm and an adult pygmy rabbit weighs from 375 to 500 g.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the smallest known chameleon, the adult of which can grow up to 29 mm. The Brookesia micra chameleon can be found in the islet of Nosy Hara located in Antsiranana in Madagascar. It\u2019s one of the smallest reptiles in the world, in fact it\u2019s so small that it can stand on a head of a match stick. Yeah! It\u2019s that teeny tiny. They usually inhabit leaf litter during the day time, and at night they go up into the branches of trees to sleep in, as high as 10cm.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also known as Izecksohn\u2019s toad, is the second smallest frog found in the Southern Hemisphere. The Brazilian gold frog is named so because of it\u2019s vibrant gold color (not shown in the photo above though). The adult Brazilian gold frog can measure up to only 9.6 to 9.8 mm in length.<\/span><\/p>\n

At this point, it seems like these animals have come across a shrink ray for being so tiny. From teeny tiny chameleons to teeny tiny frogs and now a tiny antelope?! Called the royal antelope, this tiny creature inhabits the dense forests in Western Africa, and is a herbivore, feeding on leaves and unripe fruit. They are also the smallest antelopes, measuring up to 25-30 cm and weighing only 3.2-3.6 kg. Their calves are super tiny, tiny enough to fit in a person\u2019s hand. They are also nocturnal and, we can say adorably, shy.<\/span><\/p>\n

10. Slender Blind Snakes<\/span><\/h2>\n

Also called Thread Snakes, they are found in North and South America, Asia, and Africa. They are the burrowing sort of snakes, and they feed on ants and termites. They are one of the smallest snakes in the world, hardly growing past 30 cm. They also tend to inhabit places near termite and ant hills.<\/span><\/p>\n

This lizard tends to inhabit drier hillsides while also preferring the moist conditions under the rocks because it doesn\u2019t have the adaptation needed to prevent the loss of water. This gecko measures up to 18 mm, almost as small as a U.S. dime, and weighs 0.15 g.<\/span><\/p>\n

It goes by other names, the Etruscan pygmy shrew, or the white-toothed pygmy shrew is the smallest known mammal in terms of mass. This tiny creature tends to eat twice it\u2019s weight as it has a very fast metabolism and also tends to move very fast as well. They are commonly found in warm and moist places, from Europe and North Africa up to Malaysia.<\/span><\/p>\n
